While a person can feel better after a good talk with a friend or relative, for moderate or severe emotional distress, this relief may only be temporary. However, talking with a trained listener can help alleviate emotional distress for good. This is because Psychotherapists are trained to listen and interact in a way that helps you get to the very root of your emotional concerns, helping you gain insight into your feelings, change behaviors, and resolve problems.
Talk therapy is sometimes a combination of different approaches. It is generally felt that this way therapy can be better tailored to the individual. I therefore use a combination of approaches including: Cognitive Behavioral, Person Centered, Transactional Analysis, Psychodynamics, and Existential. All of these approaches can be very powerful tools, in helping us attain long and lasting change in our lives. Both in our relationships with ourselves, and with others.
I work from home, and am located next to Battersea Square London SW11. I also make home visits, as sometimes people feel more comfortable in their own surroundings. I also work over the phone, by Skype and email. Just click on ‘Email & Skype’ for details.
I work with individuals, couples, and with families. If you would like to talk, you can email or call me for an appointment, where we can meet and discuss whether psychotherapy is right for you.
